It’s almost Easter, which is one of my favorite holidays. We celebrate Holy Week, with a focus on the Atonement and Resurrection of Jesus Christ. This year we are making low histamine sugar cookies-gf,df with these wonderful cookie cutters of a cross and a lamb. If you want gf & vegan sugar cookies check out Key to My Lime’s recipe *(see bottom of this post for my modifications to her recipe).
I’ll also be making low histamine salty chex mix, pancakes, fry bread, and pistachio basil pesto chicken this weekend so we can snack while we watch a special virtual Easter general conference on Saturday and Sunday. It’s one of our favorite weekends of the year!
We also like to have easter baskets and hide eggs and hunt for them, which we do on Saturday morning. If you’re looking for some low histamine easter egg fillers for your little one, here are some ideas-
Easter Egg Fillers
Carrots
Grapes
Pistachios
Macadamia Nuts
Bite size sugar cookies- use these adorable tiny cookie cutters
Kix
This year we are doing color coded eggs so that Rosie doesn’t pick up eggs that have candy in them. L is hunting for blue & purple, C is hunting for teal & yellow, and Rosie is hunting for pink & orange. Hopefully it works!
Easter Basket Non-food Filler Ideas:
Puzzle- from the dollar store
Book
Sunglasses
Chalk
Bubbles
Coloring book
Soccer ball
However you celebrate Easter, I hope you have a beautiful, peace-filled weekend!
*Key to My Lime Vegan Sugar cookie modifications: I substituted 6 Tb extra light tasting olive oil for the dairy free spread. I omitted the almond extract & lowered the vanilla to 1/2 tsp. I substituted 1 TB of macadamia milk for the almond and then I added 2 Tb water.
